Stronger together.
Shared values.
Adventure Alternative Nepal benefits from the active cooperation of international sister agencies and national associations based either in Nepal or in the United Kingdom.
Adventure Alternative UK
Founding Sister Company
An independent, award-winning UK-based travel company founded in 1991 by Gavin Bate. Adventure Alternative UK has funded and supported the setup of sister companies globally in Kenya, Tanzania, Russia, Borneo, and Nepal. They manage international clients, school trips, and university expeditions, establishing the highest ethical standards of responsible tourism and training.
Moving Mountains — changing lives
Charity Sister Association
Moving Mountains is an international charity working with disadvantaged communities in Nepal, Tanzania, and Kenya. Their aim is to bring long-term, holistic help for children and families to relieve poverty. In Nepal, Moving Mountains has funded school construction, medical clinics, clean water networks, smokeless cooking stoves, and hydro-electric plants.
TAAN (Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal)
National Regulation Body
TAAN is the premier umbrella organization created by trekking agents to combine efforts, meet common goals, and help the government improve trekking businesses into a highly resourceful tourism industry. They promote adventure tourism and raise awareness regarding mountain environmental issues.
NMA (Nepal Mountaineering Association)
National Alpine Association
NMA is a non-profit, non-political national alpine association. Their role is of capital importance: promoting climbing sports, coordinating safety on peaks above 6,000m, assisting high-altitude Sherpas, and protecting the fragile mountain environment of the Himalayas.
94% of your payment stays in Nepal.
By booking directly with Adventure Alternative Nepal, you cut out unnecessary international middlemen. Your adventure funds are split directly: covering standard-setting wages, food, lodging, and supporting rural school and clinic construction in Bumburi and Bupsa via Moving Mountains.
Long-term Development
Moving Mountains is not about hand-outs. We work side-by-side with local village committees, giving children scholarships and providing power, stoves, and health infrastructure so villages achieve self-reliance.
